About Me
I started teaching not in the classroom, but outside. As the Education Director for a non-profit park, I developed programs and field trips for students that took them on hikes through the long, winding trails of the lush greenspaces surrounding Birmingham, Alabama. This position allowed me to engage with all of my interests — from science and nature to history. Ultimately, my calling has always been English, and since 2017 I have been working with students in all areas of English Language Arts. After teaching high school for five years, I moved onto teaching college freshmen at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where I have just earned my second master’s in English Literature.
